Our mission is simple: to produce high-quality, ethical, and sustainable fabrics right here in Australia. We believe that by supporting local manufacturing, we can help build a more sustainable and resilient textile industry while also reducing our environmental impact.
Melco Fabrics started as a dream from a kitchen table in 2021. Our founder, Melanie Coultas, had a vision of creating sustainable fabrics that would support local manufacturing and promote environmental responsibility.
From those humble beginnings, Melco Fabrics has grown into a leader in the textiles industry. We're proud to be recognized for our commitment to ethical and sustainable manufacturing practices, and we're passionate about continuing to innovate and improve our products and processes.
We take great pride in the fact that all our knit fabrics are milled in Australia and hold the prestigious certification from the Australian Made Campaign, guaranteeing their authenticity as Australian made products. Our manufacturing processes are guided by sustainable practices that place a high priority on environmental responsibility and the well-being of our workers. We remain dedicated to minimizing waste, conserving water resources, and incorporating eco-friendly dyes and chemicals whenever feasible. With our unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability, you can confidently choose our fabrics for your sewing projects.
But sustainability is only part of our mission. We're also dedicated to ensuring that our fabrics are produced ethically, with fair wages and safe working conditions for everyone involved in the manufacturing process. That's why our manufacturing process is audited from start to finish by Ethical Clothing Australia, an independent accreditation body that ensures compliance with fair trade and labor standards.
We're also proud to offer a range of art design fabrics that are printed in-house using a pigment printer. This not only allows us to have complete control over the quality of our prints but also ensures that we're minimizing our environmental impact by reducing transportation emissions and waste.
At Melco Fabrics, we believe that sustainability, ethics, and quality should never be compromised. That's why we're committed to producing Australian-milled fabrics that meet the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility. Thank you for considering Melco Fabrics for your textile needs.
Love the colour, love the feel and love most of all that this is Australian made! More please!
I love all my beautiful fabrics from Melco, so cute
Good quality, washes well and didn't appear to shrink. Haven't made it up yet, still trying to find a nice pattern but it should make up well.
Nice and appealing material, easy to sew. Made a carry bag out of it, even after a wash it retained good strength.
I love the Melco sewing evenings! You get to meet like minded people who share a passion for sewing and Fabrics. There is always plenty of laughter and of course the opportunity to buy some awesome quality Melco fabric. An excellent evening.
I was really impressed at how accurate the colour on the website was to what was delivered. It's a beautiful deep colour and a gorgeous light-medium weight.
Look forward to sewing up Swimstyle's Karla lounge set in this.
Being slightly rural to Melbourne, I was worried about the delivery notification. Mel contacted me personally & advised the delivery process.
Sure enough, I got my delivery the next day. Very impressed with Melco's customer service.
I purchased this print in Cotton Poplin for my little granddaughter. The sweet print and pretty colours are just perfect for a little girls dress. The Cotton Poplin drapes beautifully for a shirred dress. My daughter loved the fabric so much that I have just purchased anther 3.5 metres of this print in Cotton Poplin to make her a matching dress for her daughter. Colours on the photo are true.
The linen is lovely to sew with and feels soft. It wears well as it does not crush easily.
I love the look and feel of this fanpbric and knowing it’s a unique Australian print makes it even better. I’m looking forward to finishing sewing this fabric, it’s cut out ready to start today. I’m making the Isla top from Atelier Scammit, a French pattern company. The pattern is free to download on their website.
Mel was great, the samples received were just as I had hoped, I haven't ordered anything as yet, but certainly will do in the near future. Just need to find a bit more time to sew. Beautiful samples, very helpful, always nice to feel the fabric before purchasing.
LOVE love love
Cute design. Can't wait to make it up for my granddaughter.
True to colour, lovely soft fabric
This fabric is Devine, I love the quality, colour and feel to it. I can't wait to make something with it.
I made some beautiful Christmas Scrubs with the poplin. It washed up really nicely after arriving a touch stiff. After a wash it was nice and soft and really easy to sew up. Amazing!
